Rebecca Cabrera came to Tabernacle Christian School as a junior in January 2016. Although she has been here for a relatively short period of time, Becca has proven herself to be both a diligent worker and a talented student. As a result, she has achieved many successes worthy of note. She is part of the four-time state champion Bible Quiz Bowl team that will compete on the national level again in April 2017. With respect to sports, Becca was part of the 2016 state champion girls’ soccer team and the 2017 state champion girls' basketball team. In addition, she received recognition as 1st team all region in soccer in 2016.
Her talent is not limited to sports, however. She is also a gifted speaker. In 2016 she placed third in dramatic speaking in the NCCSA Fine Arts competition, and in both the 2016 and 2017 competition, she placed first in extemporaneous speaking in the senior high division of the competition. She continued on to the nationals in 2016 for extemporaneous speaking where she placed in the top 5 in the nation. She will compete again this year in April at the national level. Her speaking achievements extend past the NCCSA Fine Arts to her success in the annual Shakespeare recitation competition at Wingate University where she placed second among several talented contestants competing from schools and organizations in Mecklenburg and Union counties. Becca is a talented artist as well and received third place in sculpture in the NCCSA Fine Arts Competition of 2017.
Becca plans to attend either Bob Jones University or Wingate University in the fall of 2017. She is undecided on a major but wants to continue to pursue drama as a minor in college. Becca describes her feelings for the future as, “I am excited. I am enjoying every step of my senior year, and not wanting to rush it, but I am also excited about what the LORD holds for my future.” Tabernacle wishes Becca great blessings as she pursues the Lord’s will for her life.
