Samantha Slater - Class of 2009

Tabernacle Christian School is proud to shine the spotlight on alumna Samantha Slater. Samantha is outstanding in many ways. During her high school years at Tabernacle Christian School, Samantha was a diligent, capable student whose bright, inquisitive mind, keen insight and excellent memory for details added to classroom discussions. As a TCS student, Samantha was actively involved in both student government and sports programs. Her self-possessed, confident demeanor caused her to stand out as a leader among the TCS student body, where she was known not only for her intelligence but for her integrity as well.

After graduating from Tabernacle in 2009, Samantha chose to attend Pensacola Christian College and major in communications. She excelled academically during her college career, making either Dean’s list or President’s list every semester in spite of suffering from a serious illness during her junior year. She served her college sorority in the capacities of secretary, chaplain, and president, and for her last two years of college, she served as a resident adviser to the students in her dormitory. In addition, she volunteered at two ministries, one a juvenile justice center for teen girls, the other a ministry helping special needs children. In 2013 Samantha received her Bachelor of Science degree in Communications with a concentration in broadcasting and a minor in history. She graduated Cum Laude, with a 3.64 grade point average.

Samantha is currently in graduate school at Liberty University, working towards a master’s degree in strategic communications. She has begun work on her graduate thesis, which will look at the effects situational comedies have on the perception of divorce by examining targeted demographics and the amount of daily television exposure experienced by Americans in general.

In addition to her studies, Samantha teaches COMS 101 at Liberty, a mandatory undergraduate introductory speech class. Her teaching this class offsets the cost of her own studies, and she is thankful for the opportunity to teach in a field she loves. According to Samantha, her experiences at Liberty have been, “A wonderful opportunity to expand my knowledge, career, and trust in the Lord.” She is praying for the Lord's direction as she decides what to do after she earns her master’s degree. After two semesters she has a perfect 4.0 GPA She has two semesters remaining and, Lord willing, will finish in May 2015.

Samantha is a self-motivated go-getter who possesses all the necessary ingredients to live out a life of purpose and destiny. We look forward to hearing of her future endeavors.
