Ashton Lee

Ashton Lee - Valedictorian Class of 2012

Ashton spent all of her educational years at Tabernacle Christian School. Even during her earliest years she stood out as an exceptional student. In the fifth grade she wrote a poem entitled “Christianity” which was published in A Celebration of Young Poets, a publication commemorating the accomplishments of talented young authors. She continued her outstanding career at TCS by winning numerous academic excellence and character based awards throughout her elementary and middle school years. At the end of her freshman year in high school, Ashton received a medallion for placing second in the school on the English section of her SAT. The following year, the 2009-2010 school year, Ashton again received special recognition by earning the highest marks on her SAT test in three subjects, math, English, and science. In doing so she broke a school record. During her junior year Ashton excelled again, receiving top honors and the end-of-the-year award in mathematics, and this year, her senior year, she earned the award for the highest SAT score in English with a perfect score on that section of the test.

Although she graduated from high school with a perfect 4.0 average, Ashton did more during her school years than just study! She began participating in athletics in seventh grade and continued through her senior year, lettering in two sports, basketball and soccer. In addition, she was an active member of both the Junior Beta and Beta clubs. She also served as both a peer tutor and a teacher’s assistant during her time at TCS. However, Ashton is best known for her humble, gentle spirit and outstanding character. She recently joined Wightman United Methodist Church and was baptized in an outdoor service on June 10, 2012.

During her senior year Ashton sent in applications to four universities, UNC-Charlotte, Pfeiffer University, Campbell University, and Wingate University. Not only was she accepted at all four universities, but she also received substantial scholarship offers from three of the four. At UNC-Charlotte she was a candidate for both the Honors and Business Honors Programs. After careful consideration, Ashton decided to attend Wingate University this fall where she will be receiving the prestigious Presidential Scholarship. Although she will be missed at TCS next year, we look forward to hearing about Ashton’s future accomplishments.
